Welcome to Newlands Dental Practice

Hygienist Appointments Available

We are delighted to inform our patients that our hygienists are back at work and we are able to offer appointments once again.

Due to current restrictions on aerosol generating procedures all appointments must be hand scale only until further notice.

Our fee for a hygienist appointment has increased slightly to £60. This is th efirst time we have increased our price since 2017. To maintain social distancing wherever possible we are asking for payment by telephone at the time of booking.

If you would like to make an appointment please call Reception on 01444 452112.

Announcement - Ian Pitman

It is with deep regret that we would like to inform you that our dear friend and colleague Mr Ian Pitman will be retiring with immediate effect.

Below is an excerpt of Ian’s lovely farewell words to the new owners:

“Dear Sachin And Shalini

I would like to offer my full cooperation with regard to communicating with my patients and to inform them that I am to retire on health grounds.

I would like to take the opportunity to encourage my patients to transfer to another dentist at the practice and to assure them that I will be leaving them in the extremely capable hands of my colleagues at dentalessence. “

Some of you have already met Dr Sachin Anand and at the time of writing we have 2 very ethical and experienced dentists joining our team, who we are sure will be just as popular as Ian and will continue to provide you with the excellent care you are accustomed to. We hope you will afford us the opportunity to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to your dental health and wellbeing.

Ian has asked us to convey the following message to all his patients:

“I am writing this with great sadness to inform you that I am to retire from dentistry.

I have been suffering with arthritis in my fingers for a couple of years. I am now aware that it isn’t going to improve, and unfortunately, I am unable to continue to practise.

Forty-three years is a long time to work in one place, but I have been extremely lucky to spend my time in such a warm and friendly environment, and with such lovely patients.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for the trust that you have placed in me over so many years and I am confident that you will be extremely well cared for in the very capable hands of my colleagues at dentalessence.“

We wish Ian a safe and happy retirement and wish him all the best for the future.

In the next few weeks we will commence sending out recalls for routine check-ups to all our patients who are due or who have had their appointments deferred due to the Coronavirus situation. In the meantime please call us on 01444 452112 if you require more urgent care.

COVID-19 Update

1st November 2020

Following the government’s press conference announcing a new lockdown of all non-essential businesses and leisure and entertainment venues, we confirm that all dentalessence practices will continue to remain open for continued patient care.

dentalessence has been able to provide safe, covid secure processes and protocols at all our sites as per government guidelines for some time now.

1. The doors will be locked during normal working hours and attendance is by appointment only - please call us when you arrive at the front door

2. We have hand sanitisers/gloves/masks at the entrances - should you forget to bring your own - please keep all belongings to a minimum

3. Cough screens at reception

4. We have "social distanced" all seating inside the buildings for some of our more elderly patients who may not be able to wait outside and for when the weather may be somewhat unpleasant.

5. All our staff will be in PPE and we advise you to attend your appointment wearing a face covering unless you have a valid exemption - evidence of this will be needed

6. We will respect any specific wishes of our patients to keep us all safe and protected

7. We are trialling a remote portal for your details to be updated so as to keep the process as contactless as possible - but if you struggle with this, don't worry, call us and we will be more than happy to help you through the process

Emergency vs routine care:

There will be some variation between sites due to the level of NHS and private commitments that we have and to allow for social distancing we will still be running a basic service focusing on emergencies.

If you already have appts booked pre covid please assume they will be honoured and please feel free to contact our front of house at any of our sites if you feel you wish to delay your appointment.

We are slowly trying to return to some level of normality and although we are open to see patients - some sites may still delay some routine appts as the guidelines from public health england evolve. This may be on a daily basis so please do bear with us.

For now we advise that you call us to check your appointments are still going ahead to avoid any doubt.

You can also view our dental emergency advice guide.

Please stay safe and best wishes.

Corona Virus Advice

The advice for anyone in any setting is to follow these main guidelines.

  1. The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of a new continuous cough and/or high temperature. If you have these symptoms, however mild, stay at home and do not leave your house for 7 days from when your symptoms started. You do not need to call NHS 111 to go into self-isolation. If your symptoms worsen during home isolation or are no better after 7 days, contact NHS 111 online. If you have no internet access, you should call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999.

  2. Wash your hands more often than usual, for 20 seconds using soap and hot water, particularly after coughing, sneezing and blowing your nose, or after being in public areas where other people are doing so. Use hand sanitiser if that’s all you have access to.

  3. To reduce the spread of germs when you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, or your sleeve (not your hands) if you don’t have a tissue, and throw the tissue away immediately. Then wash your hands or use a hand sanitising gel.

  4. Clean and disinfect regularly touched objects and surfaces using your regular cleaning products to reduce the risk of passing the infection on to other people.

We are delighted to share some exciting news with you.

Our practice has recently joined the dentalessence ‘family’ of dental practices. Brother and sister duo, Dr Sachin Anand and Dr Shalini Anand, own and run dentalessence and we now have sister practices in Burgess Hill, Sompting, Weybridge and Worthing. We are also able to offer new services and procedures in-house, such as implants, orthodontics, advanced cosmetic dentistry, facial aesthetics and sedation.

We are planning a big New Year re-launch as dentalessence Haywards Heath in January 2020 so you may notice a few changes to the appearance of the premises but rest assured, underneath we are still the same practice we have always been. You will see familiar faces behind the reception desk and in the surgery, and a few new ones too.

Delivering first-class dental care to you is still our first priority and our aim is to ensure that you experience continuity during your visits to us.

Mike Sinclair and Ana Griffiths have sadly left our practice but Andrew Brown and Ian Pitman are staying with us and will continue to see their patients as always. In addition Dr Sachin Anand, Dr Bobby Jandu and Dr Saroj Dangi have joined our team. All are highly qualified and experienced dentists and will continue to provide you with the excellent dental care you are accustomed to, as will our team of skilled hygienists Charlotte, Jack, Kirsty and Rachael.

When you are due for your regular dental exam, or are in need of more urgent care, please call us on 01444 452112 and our friendly team of receptionists will make arrangements to suit your needs as always.
